Now that we have run off the wolves one way or another, we are obligated to supply “lost predator function”, or the deer will overrun our crops and become ill from overpopulation-based disease. Similarly to our primitive progenitors, we must hunt or starve.
just be careful if you have never hunted before be sure of what your shooting at deer hunting is a great sport Ive killed somewhere between 100 – 150 deer bucks &does alike but a hunting accident could not only ruin your trip but the rest of your life good luck saturday its doe day in Ga also I’m gonna try to put a couple in the freezer myself PS the Elk story is one of the crazyest things I’ve ever heard of some people will belive any thing LOL
Hunt the wind… in other words try to sit somewhere that your scent will be blown away from where you “think” the deer will come from. Sit still and be very quiet. Make one good shot. The best shot you will have will be the first one. That is a very important lesson to learn. Try not to learn it the hard way. Once you shoot the deer will more than likely run and keep an eye to see where it runs. Be patient and enjoy your time in the woods.
Go to the rifle range and make sure you rifle is sighted in. Dress appropriately for where you are going to hunt dress in layers, wear good boots and take water and a couple of trail bars. In gun season wear a very bright orange vest and hat. Scout the area where you are going to hunt and pick you spots by the signs you find. Like half way down a saddle on the way to water on the down wind side. Make sure you skinning knife is sharp and you have a lightweight block and tackle. I carry a small hand axe and 6 feet of nylon cord for making a traverse to pack it out on. NEVER carry a dead deer on your shoulders. A novice hunter will shoot you. I also carry a compass and signal mirror. Make sure your cell phone is charged up but turned off during the hunt. Last but not least. If you shoot a deer, Stop, don’t move, just watch. Sometimes you have made the killing shot, but it takes a few seconds to a few minutes for the deer to die. If you shot he goes down, Don’t jump and yell or move toward the deer, Take a deep breath and very slowly raise up and move slowly toward the animal. This could save you having to track it. Be safe and Good Luck
Well it all depends where you go my friend, as PA mountain deer are some of the hardest deer to hunt due to the wonderful PA forests and their thick brush and ravines that deer can sneek right by you in. Your best bet is to find a good source of Acorns, White Oaks, as deer love this and its an abundant natural food source in PA forests. Also have the wind to your face, take some grass or baby powder with you and check your wind constantly. You will see ten times more deer if you follow the wind and make sure that its not blowing around you and swirling. If you follow this you should be leaving the woods Saturday with some food.
Sometime ago I decide to create a place where deer and elk hunters could visit and enjoy stories and adventures of other hunters.
Get the "secrets" and tips from professional guides and hunters. And, learn about some of the great places to go for a great Deer or Elk hunt
You'll find numerous videos on hunts and some that plug businesses. I'm not endorsing any business unless I have specifically done so in the actual post.
If you have the time - enjoy the videos and various articles I've collected.

Be quiet and wait.
