Mother nature owned the land they did not. So when the White Man came requesting to buy land the Indian so much wanted to share all of the bounty of the land with the white man……The white man tricked the Indians into entering into written contracts of land purchase…….lands of hundreds of acres purchased with little in exchange…..was not money…….Beaver pelts, deer antlers….beads…etc were the purchasing items. The Indians not understanding the concept of a man owning land……assumed that they were giving the white man the same rights as they had to hunt fish and camp …. The white man saw the Indian as stupid and dumb and fraudulently acquired his lands….. so don’t say we came here as legal…. we came as thieves.

The next night #2 brings dinner home. #3 asked, “How you do that?” #2 said, “I saw tracks, I followed tracks, I saw bear, I shot bear, I brought bear back.” So the next night it was #3’s turn. He went out and wasn’t seen for a while. When he finally came back to his brothers, he was empty-handed and his clothes were all tattered, and he was all cut-up and whatnot. His brothers asked, “What in the world happened?” #3 replied, “………I see tracks I follow tracks I see train, I shoot train……..but train no stop.

I know it’s corny, but I’ll laugh at anything!

I know it has a tin roof, and I think that there are 3 sheets of tin — 2 are older and rustier than the 3rd one, so I think it was replaced recently — a little kitchen-type area with a pump for water at the sink and a camp stove, is in a wooded area that has some river that borders the woods on the east and north, has a pretty large deer head hanging on the wall, a wood stove for heat, and at least one cot with Army blankets. I need to find this place — anybody out there know of it?

He is now off to Marine boot camp and lent me the gun to use for deer hunting and getting the story on it as well. The gun is a Fabrique Nationale D’Armes de Guerre Herstal-Belgique (or FN). On the top of the breech is stamped a large “7.62″ obviously for the calibre. Below that is stamped a crest with a six pointed star with rounded points (not quite a Star of David) within the crest is shown a armored hand holding a sword with ivy around it. On the bottom part of the crest are words in an very unfamiliar language, different characters completely. On the left side of the breech is the serial number and below that in tiny letters is stamped “Jud. Ent. Farm Ct.”. Other distinguishing features include full wooden cover of the barrel, a clip site for bayonet (which obviously had been used, has a lot of wear) and pop-up rear site. I know it is a Mauser, but I’d love to know the story of what country it was made for? I found a online gun store sight selling a Venezuelan contract Mauser, but in the picture the crest wasn’t the same one; so it isn’t Venezuelan. Let me know!
