Tacky/ Weird?

csbiup asked:

I want to know what you think about my friend naming her baby Hunter Miller. I think Hunter is a fine name, but doesn’t necessarily go with the last name (too similar). Also, the baby’s dad hunts just about year round. Her house revolves around what hunting season it is and there’s a huge stuffed bear and deer in their living room. There baby will probably be Hunter the hunter who lives at hunting camp.

    Beyond corny.

    Awful!

‘Hunter’ and ‘Miller’ are both surnames. I know that poor Americans who live in caravans like to give their children surnames in place of christian names, but even in the backward U.S. this usually only applies to unfortunate girls, not boys.

It’s like giving a child christian names like Ackroyd Ramsbotham – actually no – that sounds BETTER than Hunter Miller!

wouldn’t have been my first choice, but to each his own.

Interesting…I love the name Hunter…so i would have to tell her to stick with it….

Miller is just one of those names that nothing sounds right with….and if she has her heart set on Hunter and you dont like it…call him by his middle name if he has one…

I don’t think the name is tacky. I wouldn’t pick a name that ends in er either (because of the last name)…but it’s your friend’s baby and I certainly hope you didn’t tell her that you thought the name was weird.

It’s pretty cheesy…but it’s also her baby…she’ll have to deal with the corny name fallout when the poor kid is 8 or 9 and understands the concept of hunting…

any name will suit fine but maybe not to o.t.t. i mean if the boy becomes a hunter then hes in a trouble and the only nick name u get out of hunter is hun or hunt or miller but thats his last name

I think naming a child with a name that has a meaning is great. How many more Mathews, Jonathans, and Michaels can this world take??

I think an “H” name would be fit with the last name “Miller” but NOT “Hunter”.
    Suggest these to Him & Her;
    “Hudson”
    “Holden”
    or
    “Hewitt” (my favorite)

Most likely, your friend has been bitten by the ‘oh-it’s-so-cute’ name bug. Parents like these have good intentions, they really do. I don’t believe that the majority of them think these things through, and can end up saddling their beloved child with a name that will haunt him for years (or at least until he can change it). Hunter, in and of itself, is a nice enough name. I wouldn’t name my own little boy that, but that’s just personal preference. Hunter in this circumstance is going to be miserable by the time he hits middle school however. He’ll be labelled as a red-neck by fellow students and teachers alike before he has a chance to carve out his own personality. I don’t doubt that mommy and daddy think it’s a great name, and I understand why they would, but try to encourage them to get a dog named Hunter…let the little boy have his own personality. He may end up liking to hunt, but what if he prefers acting or basketball, or one of the thousands of other hobbies out there? Remember, too, that you can’t change their minds for them…but maybe trying to point out this stuff will help. Maybe. Lots of parents seem to loose their better judgement when it comes to naming their children.

Hunter sounds like a bit of an agressive name, which I guess is ok if he’s going to grow up in a hunting family… Bit odd though – Hunter the hunter!!

Yeah that is just werid. Make the middle name Hunter.

I actually really really like the Hunter hunter combination. Especially since the dad hunts… I like it personally.

    RAYNER

Not a good idea. Also, I would always assume that a Hunter was male if I just saw the name.

If heard of weider things. I knew a guy that was a game warden and named his kids Bass and Trout. I’m just glad I’m not his kid!!!
